FIRST ANOUNCEMENT 2nd INTERNATIONAL PLANT BREEDING CONGRESS FIRST ANOUNCEMENT 2nd INTERNATIONAL PLANT BREEDING CONGRESS
1 -5 November, 2015, Antalya, TURKEY
General Information about Congress
As ever/body knows, with your valuable contribution, the first plant breeding congress was successfully
organized in November 2013. Upon your intensive request, we decided to organize the second international
congress of plant breeding.
As there have been many different scientific meetings around the world, we intended to bring three different communities together, namely science, research and private industry, in the friendly environment of Antalya/
Turkey to share novel insights among each other and benefit from the different interactions . The congress will be organized by the Plant Breeders Sub-Union of Turkey (BISAB) together with the Turkish Plant Breeders
Association (TUBID), Turkish Seed Union (TURKTOB), ECO Seed Association (ECOSA), along with participation of different other national and international organizations.
The Local Organizing Committee consists of;
• Plant Breeders Sub-Union of Turkey
• General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Politics of Ministry of Food, Agriculture
• Turkish Seed Union
* Turkish Plant Breeders Association
* ECO Seed Association
* Faculty of Agricultures of different Universities in Turkey
The Congress will cover subjects on all field and horticultural crops including energy crops, wild species of cultivated crops, as well as on the genetic resources and varieties developed, organizations Both oral
presentations and poster presentations are possible. It is intended that the subjects should be kept broad enough in order to provide opportunity to the science community to present their work from the plant breeding perspective, either oral or poster, on the following headings:
* Conventional & Marker Assisted Breeding
* Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology - Genetic Engineering and Genomics
• Genetic Resources for Pre-Breeding
Arabic, English, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. There will be simultaneous translation during the congress at five languages. If the number of participants requesting translation from above mentioned languages is more than 50, translation will be provided.
Venue Congress will be organized in WOW KREMLIN PALACE Hotel - Antalya / TURKEY www.wowhotels.com
Congress will be carried out between the dates of 1 st and 5th of November 2015. General Congress program as follows;
1 st of November-Arrival and registration
2-3-4 November-Opening ceremony and scientific program
5th of November - Sightseeing and historical tour (fee)
Instructions for abstract submission
Abstracts can be in any of the congress languages. If an abstract is submitted in Arabic, Russian and Turkish, an additional English version of abstract is also requested. Abstracts shall not exceed 250 words,
written in MS Word or a compatible format. State the name(s) of author(s) [the name of presenting author should be underlined], institute, city, country and email address. Abstract should be sent via e-mail as
attached file between 1 st of May and the end of July, 2015 . Preference of oral or poster presentation should be indicated. Corresponding author can indicate whether he/she wants to present his/her paper as
oral or poster. The corresponding author ought to shall register for congress within following 15 days after his/her abstract's acceptance is notified, to ensure inclusion . Otherwise, the abstracts will not be included in the program. All accepted abstracts will be published in a special Book of Abstracts and/or in CD, while they will be made available on the Congress web page after acceptance. The last day of the publishing of the abstracts on congress web page is not later than the 1 st of September 2015. The final version of the congress program will be on the web page at least two weeks prior to the 15 days before beginning of the Congress.

DNA markers have enormous potential to improve the efficiency and precision of conventional plant breeding via marker-assisted selection (MAS). The large number of quantitative trait loci (QTLs) mapping studies for diverse crops species have provided an abundance of DNA marker-trait associations. In this review, we present an overview of the advantages of MAS and its most widely used applications in plant breeding, providing examples from cereal crops. We also consider reasons why MAS has had only a small impact on plant breeding so far and suggest ways in which the potential of MAS can be realized. Finally, we discuss reasons why the greater adoption of MAS in the future is inevitable, although the extent of its use will depend on available resources, especially for orphan crops, and may be delayed in less-developed countries. Achieving a substantial impact on crop improvement by MAS represents the great challenge for agricultural scientists in the next few decades.

If a submission denoted as oral presentation is not accepted, the corresponding author will have the opportunity either to consent the choice of poster presentation or withdrawal. The reviewing process will take no more than two weeks.
Full papers of the selected presentations will be published in Ekin Journal of Crop Breeding and Genetics (www.ekinjournal.com) after the congress. Full paper deadline for submission is in the 1st of October 2015.
Dimensions: 1 M High, 0.8 M Width.
Oral presentations will be limited to 20 minutes however, authors are advised to plan their presentation for a maximum of 15 min. to allow time for questions.
Registration and Accommodation Registration fee includes participation in scientific sessions, congress abstracts book or supply and transfer fees of conference materials such as CD (hotel-terminal-hotel). Issues related to accommodation will be announced later on the website of Congress. Registration to congress will be held by website or sending filled registration form via e-mail.
